Intro to Chicago Gender Society (CGS):

Thank you for visiting our site. We hope that you will find the information you are searching for!

The Chicago Gender Society (CGS) was founded in May 1987 for transgender education and support. CGS continues to provide a safe place for people to explore their gender identity.  We do this through our monthly meetings, socials and events. If you are new to the community, CGS meetings provide our members and guests an opportunity to network with other individuals exploring similar feelings and provide educational programs from experts in the fields of interest to our members.  Our monthly socials provide an evening out with members and friends in a public environment.  

Chicago Gender Society (CGS) Meeting:

The meeting venue is at the Arlington Ale House, 111 W. Campbell St., third floor in Arlington Heights. It is across the street from Peggy Kinnane’s and around the corner from Big Shot. There are elevators. It is a beautiful space with a fully stocked bar. (sorry, no food available, but you can bring food in.) Parking is available at the multi-level garage on Vail. The March 10, 2026 meeting will have Sophie Murphy from Alchemical Psychotherapy joining us. Sophie is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Arlington Heights, Illinois, with over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist. Her work is grounded in Jungian psychotherapy and centers on relational and focused therapy, gender identity       exploration, and depth-oriented Individual work. I have trained at the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago, the Seattle School of Theology & Psychology, the Gottman Institute, IITAP, IPI and MAPS                                          

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. The meeting begins at 8:00 p.m. Members in good standing and first-time attendees are always invited to join our meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. Everyone is invited to join our social on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Chicago Gender Society’s (CGS) Social Corner:

The CGS Social is held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Highway House, located at 5653 N Northwest Hwy, Chicago, IL 60646. Members and non-members are welcome. We start arriving around 7:00 p.m. and stay until whenever.
