Welcome to the Chicago Gender Support Alliance

The Chicago Gender Support Alliance (CGSA) is a community-centered organization dedicated to supporting transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse individuals across the Chicago metropolitan area. We believe that every person deserves to live authentically, with dignity and the resources they need to thrive.

Our Mission

CGSA exists to build a stronger, more informed community through connection, learning, and advocacy. We bring together individuals, families, and allies to create networks of support — because no one should navigate their gender journey alone.

What We Do

Our work is rooted in three core commitments:

  • Community — Providing safe spaces, peer connection, and mutual support for gender-diverse individuals and their loved ones.
  • Education — Offering resources, programming, and outreach that increase understanding and visibility of transgender and nonbinary experiences.
  • Advocacy — Standing alongside our community members to promote equity, inclusion, and justice at every level.

Who We Serve

CGSA welcomes transgender and nonbinary individuals at every stage of their journey, as well as the families, friends, and allies who stand with them. Whether you are seeking community, looking to learn, or wanting to take action, there is a place for you here.

Chicago Gender Society (CGS) Meeting:

The meeting venue is at the Arlington Ale House, 111 W. Campbell St., third floor in Arlington Heights. It is across the street from Peggy Kinnane’s and around the corner from Big Shot. There are elevators. It is a beautiful space with a fully stocked bar. (sorry, no food available, but you can bring food in.) Parking is available at the multi-level garage on Vail. The next meeting is July 14, 2026.                                          

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. The meeting begins at 8:00 p.m. Members in good standing and first-time attendees are always invited to join our meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. Everyone is invited to join our social on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Chicago Gender Society’s (CGS) Social Corner:

The CGS Social is held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Highway House, located at 5653 N Northwest Hwy, Chicago, IL 60646. Members and non-members are welcome. We start arriving around 7:00 p.m. and stay until whenever.
